Greetings Evergreen Families,
We welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year! Mrs. Tottempudi and I are delighted to extend a warm welcome to all our families and students, both returning and new to Evergreen Elementary School. It is with great anticipation and excitement that we begin this journey together, with a shared commitment to our students’ educational excellence and their personal growth.
This year, we have a few exciting things to look forward to, in addition to nurturing and developing the ideas we planted last year. Some of the highlights from 2023-2024 that we wanted to share with you are:
• We fostered a culture of Kindness, Respect, and Leadership within our school community by establishing our very own Evergreen Vision and Mission Statement.
• We created a Student Council that celebrated and fostered leadership.
• We held Academic Awards assemblies for each marking period that celebrates academic achievement, attendance, and perseverance.
• Our talented band students were invited to perform during the District’s Black History Month and Women’s History Month Celebrations.
• Evergreen Students’ artwork was displayed during the District Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations.
• During the district Track and Field events, Evergreen took home 18 out of a possible 32 medals. We brought home more than half the medals!
• Evergreen was the only elementary school invited to participate in the Mental Health Awareness kickoff at the board office with the Mayor and Superintendent of Schools.
For the 2024-2025 school year, Evergreen Elementary School has partnered with The Leader in Me, a student-leadership based program that focuses on the whole-child using The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to enrich academics and social-emotional growth. We want to teach our students strategies to help them solve problems, to make informed decisions, to take charge of their actions, learn to succeed academically, and thrive emotionally and socially. Through this research-based program, we will provide exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities focused on assuring our students become the leaders of tomorrow! By working together, we are certain that our students will soar to new heights!
Our main focus is to equip our students with the necessary skills and attributes to be successful, life-long learners. We believe in the power of teamwork and the impact a strong home-school partnership can have on our students. We invite you to actively engage in your child’s education, maintain open lines of communication, and participate in school activities and events whenever possible through our PATT (Parents and Teacher Together). Our hopes and dreams are the same for our students. Collaboratively, we can provide the support and guidance our students need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
During the year, it is our hope that we work together to provide students with the best opportunities in preparing them for the world outside by providing them with the skills necessary to master the challenges placed in their path. As always, our students are our number one priority, and we realize that ensuring their continued wellbeing is a community effort. I call upon your support and collaboration to ensure that our students are “Kind, Respectful, Evergreen Leaders who soar to new heights.”
As the school’s leadership team, our doors are always open, and we welcome you. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment. Partner with us to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this year the best it can be!
Educationally Yours,
Johan Manuel Rojas, Ed.D., Principal
